The Beautiful Art Of Resin River Tables
Updated: Jan 22

River tables are a display of beauty, art and admirable craftsmanship. But many of us have never even heard of them! If you are familiar with our YouTube channel @protohypeuk then you may have noticed, we too love to experiment and try our hand at creating these eye-catching pieces of furniture.
So, what are they? River tables are made with a combination of wood and epoxy resin. Wood is chopped down which exposes the natural edge of the wood. These pieces are then placed on the outer edges of the table with the live edge facing inwards to mimic the contour of a river. Sounds pretty cool if you ask us!

The “valley” left in the middle of the table is then filled with epoxy resin! You should check out our Instagram @protohypeuk for some seriously satisfying videos and gifs of resin pouring! Trust us, you won’t want to miss it. The resin used to create the river can be clear, blue or any colour you wish! Depending on the type of wood you choose to use for your resin table you can often find some lakes and ponds form in other areas of the table making each river table unique in its own natural way!
More than often the wood used for resin tables is wood that may often be rejected in furniture making. However, using resin helps preserve these features and characteristics of the wood without throwing it away. What’s not to love?

If you would like a river table of your own, then feel free to get in touch with us via our email: info@protohype.co.uk! We would love to hear your requests and help you come one step closer to owning your very own unique piece of furniture.
