Top Tips For Staying Positive During The COVID-19 Pandemic

It’s been a tough year, right? With the holiday season fast approaching, some of us may be finding it harder than others to keep their spirits lifted. Don’t worry, we've got you covered! We’ve compiled some top tips for staying positive this holiday season!

Our first top tip is one many people have engaged in over this year, and this is learning something new. Teaching yourself a new skill or picking up a new hobby not only stimulates your mind but also allows you to focus on something. You’ll find this can help keep your mind away from any negative thoughts or feelings you may be experiencing at this time.

We recommend YouTube as a great resource for learning. Want to know how to crochet? YouTube's got you covered. Want to learn how to play the guitar? There will certainly be a video for that too! The internet is an amazing resource full of exciting things for you to learn and try out, so, use it to your advantage!

Some of you might want to cover your ears over this one, as the dreaded word is coming... EXERCISE! Now, we know exercise isn’t for everyone, but allowing yourself to do a workout each day releases endorphins and can help you feel awake and energised throughout the day. If workouts aren’t your thing, then even going for a short walk can help clear your mind and allow you to feel like you have achieved something in your day. Don’t knock it until you've try it!

A good night’s sleep is essential for everyone! So, make sure you are giving yourself enough time in the evening to unwind and get ready for a deep sleep. This means putting down the tablets and smart phones in exchange for something more soothing like a book. It’s no secret that an awful night’s sleep can put anyone in a negative headspace, so make sure you are getting the right amount of sleep for you.

Our final tip is to set yourself goals and rewards. It’s hard when you’re in a negative headspace, to acknowledge anything good that you may have achieved during the day or throughout the week. Setting yourself goals can not only help you feel accomplished but can also lead to a reward. Maybe you set yourself the task of completing three workouts this week? Why not acknowledge that and reward yourself with a takeaway? Whatever it is you need as a pick-me-up, don’t be afraid to treat yourself every now and then. You deserve it!

We hope you can utilise some of these tips today, and work towards a more positive mindset this holiday season. Don’t forget to check in with us every Tuesday for a new blog post!
